A handmade coffee table, was designed with the intent to emphasize the element, circle, by including a variety of circumference sizes, as well as correlating the circular lathed legs within the main element idea. Based on my preliminary sketches, four main types of wood were picked to serve as the medium for the coffee table. Black Walnut, Mahogany, Red Oak, and Cherry were used within the circles on the surface of the coffee table, establishing a complex texturestyle. These four different types of wood were chosen because they offer a variety of grain styles as well as colors. Grout was added within the boundaries of the circles to complete the solid surface appearance of the coffee table. To add value to the circle element of the coffee table, the legs are individually unique based on their different sizes and patterns within the lathed grooves.
